
People who consume one to  two glasses of alcohol a day reduces the likelihood of developing  diabetes compared with teetotalers. 
 
10-year study by Dutch scientists, which was attended by 35,000 people, found that moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 40 per cent compared with those who completely abstain from taking alcoholic beverages.
 
The researchers also found that people who consume alcohol in moderate amounts, usually lead a healthier lifestyle, which scientists have determined from the 4 th criteria for: the prevention of obesity, physical exercise, smoking cessation and a balanced diet.
